The Shops of Grand Avenue- (Milwaukee, WI)


To quote Alice Cooper's famous history lesson from the movie Wayne's World, " Milwaukee is actually pronounced 'Mill-E-Wah-Que', which is Algonquin for the good land", which indeed it is. The Shops of Grand Avenue is a downtown mall on the streets of the state of Wisconsin's most populated and major city. The Shops current anchor stores are Boston Store and TJ Maxx.

The mall opened in 1982 and at one point, had over 80 stores, and the largest food court in the state. The name comes from  one of the business streets in the city during the 19th Century, Grand Avenue.

The malls previous anchor stores included Marshall Field's, which closed in 1997, and Gimbel's until 1986, a year before the chain was defunct.

TJ Maxx, Linen's N' Things, and Officemax, and Old Navy were added in 2002.
