Minutes from Downtown Louisville, Kentucky, off Interstate 65 and Louis and Clark Parkway in the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville, Indiana. The mall is nearly 800,000 square feet and one florr with current anchor stores being JCPenney, Sears, Dillard's, and Books-A-Million.
Green Tree Mall opened in 1968 and named after the mass amount of trees that once stood where the mall was built on. JCPenney and Sears were the original anchor stores. Danner's 5 & 10 opened shortly after. Ben Synder's opened a store in the 70s, which converted to Hess's Department Store, then later Dillard's.
The first Texas Roadhouse in the country opened in the mall parking lot in 1993.
There was once a mall called River Falls that opened across from the mall, that opened in 1990. One department store was Bacon's, and was acquired by Dillard's and converted to Dillard's Men's Store and keeping its Women's Store at Green Tree Mall.
In 2004, the Dillard's at River Falls closed as the mall began to decline, thus creating a full line store at Green Tree Mall.
Here are pictures of the mall from August 2014:
