Castleton Square Mall- (Indianapolis, IN)


Castleton Square Mall is the largest and busiest mall in the the state of Indiana, current anchor stores include Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Macy's, Von Maur, and Sears, this mall is the largest in the city of Indianapolis at over 1.2 million square feet.

Opening in 1972, after success with Lafayette Square Mall, over the years, many office buildings and restaurants opened filling in the corridor of Interstate 465 and 86th Street.

Lazarus opened in 1973 and was converted to Macy's- Lazarus in 2003, before converting to Macy's in 2005. 

The mall filled in quite well and in 1992, Lazarus opened and in 1999, the sixth anchor store and a food court was added and went under an extensive renovation in 2000.

Galyan's Sporting Goods store opened and was converted to Dick's. 

In 2006, L.S. Aryes store closed and the building and parking lot was demolished to make room for a new AMC Theater, Borders Books Store, and several outdoor retail stores.

In 2012, many stores switched locations in the mall, Forever XXI opened in the former Borders, Off Broadway Shoes moved into the Sears wing, and H&M was expanded.

  1. Castleton has always been a great mall and still is. I worked there at Berman's Leather in the early 80's. Fun memories.
