Target Closing All Canadian Stores!

A sad sight to see in any part of the world, for the people who work and shop at a particular store and find out it is closing, it is both a shock and a loss, in 2015, there will be an extensive amount of retail losses, in America, and today in Canada, where Target announced it will cease its Canadian operations after two years and billions lost, will close all 133 stores in the next two months.

It could be Karma, for a company coming from America, Target, and Canuck who has never been to the states, this was a whole new experience, or in the case of Wal-Mart, from Arkansas, was already in Canada, but with the closing of famous Canadian chain Zellers, Wal-Mart had room to grow.

At first Zellers was closing a few stores, but Target put in the extra effort to force the chain out of business and took over all remaining stores around this time two years ago, and two years later, are announcing defeat.

Zeddy is up is retail heaven right now laughing at Targets demise!

We're loosing stores too quickly!

In the last week, over a thousand stores from various companies and brands announced they would be closing and restructuring there business plans. In the retail world, there are ups & downs, weaker companies have to die so stronger companies can get stronger, its just nature, but this is getting ridiculous. The brick-and- mortar scene looks to be reaching an end for most companies, as online sales are a more viable option, and that worked for many others in the past, like Service Merchandise, Montgomery Ward, and Linens N' Things, but all have ended that as well.

Within the last week, these are the companies that are either liquidating entirely, or closing individual locations; (ALL pictures are from Google):

Woodland Mall- (Grand Rapids, MI)

The Woodland Mall is an enclosed mall in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is over 1.1 million square feet, a one-level mall with anchor stores JCPenney, Sears, Macy's, Barnes & Noble, and junior anchors Forever 21 and H&M.

Woodland Mall opened in 1968 and is the second oldest by date, but now is the original mall in the Grand Rapids area, the first being Eastbrook Mall, now known as Centerpoint Mall. Woodlands was built at the intersection of Michigan Route-11 (28th Street) and Michigan Route-37 (East Beltline Avenue), the mall housed JCPenney, Sears and Kresge.

In 1975, the mall was expanded and this added a third major anchor store, Hudson's, and Kresge closed in 1987, and the space was divided into smaller stores.

Lord & Taylor was planned to be built at the mall in 1997, but Hudson's threatened to sue because it would cause a breach in ownership of the land and presence of Federated and May Co. being in the same mall.

In 1999, a food court and childrens play area was added near the JCPenney wing. Hudson's was converted to Marshall Field's in 2001 and then Macy's in 2006. In 2008, Barnes & Noble moved from its current location to the mall in October and opened in 2009.

Here are pictures of the mall from December 2014:
