FLASHBACK: Old Pictures of the Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles

(THESE ARE NOT MY PICTURES AND I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THEM)
A love for the 80's somehow relates the 1983 Golden Globes Hollywood star spangles life-style with 80's malls, especially the Beverly Center, topped off with Bullock's and The Broadway department stores.

The Beverly Center Mall is located at 8500 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles and is one of the most popular shopping centers outside Beverly Hills. It opened in March 1982 and designed by one of my favorite mall designers, A. Alfred Taubman.

When a Detroit cop (Eddie Murphy) comes to Southern California in 1984, where would be be seen shopping?

The sheer size of the building, including the massive, indoor parking garage seen above, the color scheme and overall design makes it an 80's classic in my book.

Anchor stores today include Macy's (former The Broadway), and Bloomingdale's (former Bullock's).

In 2007, the escalator was reconstructed, and is now exposed from outside.

That amazing, space-age covered escalator
