The mall's original planning for construction started in 1968 by an urban investment company. When construction was ready to start in June of 1973, the mall was constructed to 1.5 million square feet and completed in 1975.
The first two anchors to open was Marshall Field's and Sears, Roebuck & Co.
Then, JCPenney and Lord & Taylor opened with 150 other small specialty shops.
Around the middle 80's, either a Childrens Palace or Child World opened in the malls outer lot facing the JCPenney wing.
In 1996, the Lord & Taylor closed its Fox Valley Mall location and sold the store to Carson Pirie Scott.

After Westfield purchased the mall, all the signs and usage of the original Fox Valley Mall logo was discontinued and replaced with Westfield's standard brand logo and design hues as well as extensive renovations to the mall for the first time since it opened.
When all the department stores were swept up by Macy's big buyout of The May Co. and Federated in 2005 and 2006, that included the Marshall Field's at Fox Valley Mall on September 9, 2006.

The first round of pictures I took of this mall was the summer of 2012, it mostly covers what was closed in the mall and had since been filled in and replaced.
Here they are:
Books-A-Million opening soon |
In 2009, A Tilted Kilt Bar & Grill opened between the Carson's and Macy's wings.
About a two years ago, a Tony Sacco's Pizza restaurant also opened across the Tilted Kilt in the Same hall.

Mostly the rest of these pictures are from Christmas 2012 and spring of 2013 and summer of 2013 mixed together. Just by these pictures, You can see what type of mall this is, the size and kind of stores based on the location and how the mall in doing based on occupancy...really this is to save on explaining what each picture is specifically for.
Here are many pictures of the interior of the mall from the winter of 2012, spring and summer of 2013.
