The Marketplace Mall is an enclosed shopping center in Champaign, IL and is anchored by JCPenney, Macy's, and Bergner's.
The mall opened in 1975 with Sears, JCPenney, Famous- Barr, and a fourth anchor that would eventually become Bergner's.
In 1999, the JCPenney closed and came back in 2004.
A Tuscany-themed italian villa setting was part of the renovation and expansion plans which were completed in August 1999.
In 2006, Famous-Barr was changed names to Macy's.
In 2013, Sears announced they would close its mall store, after being in Champaign since 1928 and being an original mall anchor since 1975.
Here are pictures of the mall from August 2013:

Does anybody have a picture of the old "Market Place Mall Champaign, IL" logo? This will be the MP logo w/ the word Market Place on the left underneath the MP logo. I was looking for that logo for a very long time. This will be the logo back in circa 1979 & the 1980s before 1999. THANKS!!!
