The Plaza in Evergreen Park, Illinois Demolition

The time has come, for nearly two years of speculation on the future of The Plaza, the citizens of Evergreen Park are witnesses the future of shopping as the old center comes down in October and through November. From the time I first visited The Plaza back in March 2013, the inside showed its age and clearly the end as two months later, in May, the inside of the mall had closed. I later visited the center in July of that same year, scary and empty, the Carson's is the only store opened, and Applebee's outside.

Here is my video of the inside of the mall on a rainy Sunday in March 2013:

Back when I started Trip to the Mall, one of my first posts was of The Plaza in Evergreen Park. It shows some very interesting pictures of the inside and outside, before and after closing.

The Carson Pirie Scott store is still open, as the rest of the mall around it is coming down.

Almost all gone.

The original anchor store, The Fair, and later Montgomery Ward, after that, not much else to keep shoppers coming back, here below, is cut in half. Cool to see all the floors of the old store and the faded, long gone logo of the National Wholesale Liquidators on the water tower.
