Lakeview Square Mall is a regional mall located along interstate 94 in Battle Creek, Michigan. The malls current anchor stores are JCPenney, Sears, Macy's, and Dunham's Sports.
Although the mall was first purposed in 1978, construction did not begin until the early 80's to be completed in 1983. The original anchor stores included Sears, JCPenney, and Hudson's.
Not much has changed around the mall other than minor renovations in the 1990's and Hudson's converting to Marshall Field's in 2001, and again in 2006 to Macy's.
Dunham's Sports opened in the mall in 2006 as well, relocating from a nearby plaza. Steve & Barry's opened in 2007, replacing the Old Navy. So bad for a chain like Steve & Barry's, considering how many stores they opened in 2006 and 2007, to only close a year later, as the chain filed for bankruptcy in 2008.
Lakeview Square is a common representation of a dated 1980's mall that was built to be built, situated along a major highway, serving both the citizen's of Battle Creek, and vacationer's like myself.
Here are pictures of the mall I happened to take in July 2016:
This a really nice picture that displays how the mall still incorporates a lot of trees and live plants, this is meant to symbolize life, earth tones and skylights for sunshine, not too many malls have live plants anymore because of the upkeep.
Thank you for reading Trip to the Mall and continue to follow us on Facebook.
