Millcreek Mall- (Erie, Pennsylvania)

One of the malls I have always wanted to go to and the first Pennsylvania mall to be featured on Trip to the Mall. The Millcreek Mall in Erie, Pennsylvania is located at Interstate 79 and U.S. 20, technically is in Millcreek Township. Current anchor store include Sears, JCPenney, Macy's, and Bon-Ton. I got to the mall pretty late, at midnight, which is why I can only show what the exterior of the mall looks like, at least for now.

Millcreek Mall opened in 1975 with Boston Store, Halle's, JCPenney, Kaufmann's, Carlisle's, and Sears. Boston Store became Horne's shortly after in 1979. Horne's closed in 1994 and became Lazarus and closed in 1997.

Halle's became a Dahlkemper's Catalog store before closing in 1993, later Burlington Coat Factory opened here.

Homeplace took over the former Carlisle's store in 1995 after there closure. Elder-Beerman took over the former Lazarus store in 1998, and converted to The Bon-Ton in 2003.

Homeplace closed possibly in 2001 and sat empty for a few years before it was subdivided into Steve & Barry and A.C. Moore crafts store. The Steve & Barry's closed in 2009.

Kaufmann's, one of the few original anchor stores, converted to Macy's in 2006 with the rest of the chain.

Homeplace closed in and was subdivided into Steve & Barry and A.C. Moore crafts store. The Steve & Barry's closed in 2009.

Burlington Coat Factory closed there mall store in 2012 and sat empty for two years until 2014, when Pittsburgh-based sandwich chain Primanti Bros. and Mad Mex subdivided the old anchor. There is so much anchor store history to this mall, old, local chains, converted to regional chains, bought and converted to national chains, this mall really tells a story.

Here are pictures of the mall at night in June 2016:

Most of this new development is from 2008 and 2014 when the former Halle's/ Dahlkemper's/ Burlington Coat Factory was partially demolished and converted to Primanti Bros.

There is also so many more shopping opportunities around the mall property, several plaza's and restaurants.

Pictures of the interior will be coming soon.

Thank you for reading Trip to the Mall and continue to follow us on Facebook.
