The beautiful city of St. Louis, gateway to the west, and the home of one of the most prestige, luxurious malls in the St. Louis area, the St. Louis Galleria in Richmond Heights, MO. Minutes from downtown, the malls current anchor stores are Macy's, Nordstrom, and Dillard's.
The Galleria opened in 1984 where the Westroads Shopping Center anchored by Stix, Baer & Fuller once was. The property was sold in 1984 and most of the original mall was demolished except for the Stix Store and the north wing of the mall and built the St. Louis Galleria. Dillard's acquired the Stix chain and expanded the Richmond store and Mark Shale opened a minor anchor.
In 1991, The Clayton, MO Famous-Barr store moved to the Galleria and The May Co. opened Lord & Taylor on the south end of the mall.
The Galleria is where the first Build-A-Bear Workshop opened in 1997 before it became a chain. The mall also houses the flagship stores of The Gap, Urban Outfitters, Janie and Jack, Pandora Jewelers and many more.
The food court received major renovations in 2006 and Famous-Barr was renamed Macy's.
In 2006, Nordstrom announced plans to open a store on the sight of the former Lord & Taylor store, in December 2008, the company said it would delay the opening until 2011.
