These stores began there liquidation around the second week of January and will run through late March, possibly early April for some stores. Of most, several individual locations are more special than others to me, that in particular, the Macy's (former Marshall Field's) at Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
I post quite frequently about the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg as my favorite mall by far, as I grew up in Schaumburg, although Stratford Square is the first mall I went to ever!
Here are my pictures from two weeks ago as the liquidation started. A lot of good shots capturing the vultures grabbing "good deals", if this many people supported the store in the first place, it would not be closing.

It's nice to finally see how the renovations done to Janesville Mall have really changed the interior appearance, although I am a fan of the old interior, new carpet, flooring, and paint can really brighten up and renew an old place.
Since the last time I was here, JCPenney was still open, although the closure was announced the weekend I went here, and the store closed around April.
Last year, Dick's Sporting goods and Ulta Beauty opened in former JCPenney as major interior renovations were also completed.
Very nice to see a RadioShack still operates here, I guess some things never change.
I was here on Sunday, so by this time, the mall was ready to close for the night.

Years of decline leading up to the de-malling of Machesney Park Mall, the lost of JCPenney in 2014, and now Bergner's, the last semi-original anchor store (originally Younker's) is closing at the end of January. The plan of Machesney Town Center returning to a prospering retail hub has taken a turn for the worst now left with only two stores, Burlington and Big Lots. There is a college in the rear of the center, otherwise a retail strip is located down RT-251 and the Cherryvale Mall is the destination for Rockford.
Sears announced another wave of store closures by this spring, topping the list to 150 stores. Sears Holdings will now close 108 Kmart's, and 42 Sears stores by April. Yesterday's announcement was added to a previous list of closures announced in late December, on considering about 30 stores of this total.
I instantly thought of the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2, as the song starts out with Bono singing "I can't believe the news today...". I couldn't believe the news of Kmart closing MORE stores and Macy's closing stores, all announced the same day, many of which I have shopped at for years, and love very much.
Again, all of these stores are going to close by spring (late March/ early April), as the liquidation sales start at the end of this week. I am very certain this will not be the last list of stores set to close this year, as Sears dug a hole far too deep for any alpinist to ever climb out.
Today, Sears announced the sale of Craftsman Tools to Stanley Black & Decker for 900 million, not enough to even make a dent in Sears debt, so what does the chain have left to stand out from the rest?
