The Crossings at Northwest (Northwest Plaza)- St. Ann, Missouri

The only sign The Crossings at Northwest has to prove it was once an enclosed mall is the Famous-Barr "UFO" rotunda. Formerly Northwest Plaza in St. Ann, Missouri opened in 1963 and was closed around 2009, officially being de-malled in 2010 and began demolition in 2013. The mall also was under the Westfield name from 1997 until 2007?

Menards opened in August 2015.

A solid example of the complete life of a mall, starting out as a regional enclosed shopping mall in the 1960's, expansion and modernization in the 70's and 80's, decline and crime in the 90's, changing hands while stores close left and right. Finally closing and being re-purposed to never give a hint that retail commerce ruled that land now occupied by medical offices.

Here are pictures I took in April 2016:

The office tower in the background is still from the old mall seen in the picture below:

  1. Northwest Plaza started its life as an open air mall. Was enclosed 1988-89.
