After admitting bankruptcy in March, and beginning to liquidate a small portion of stores, Gander Mountain is officially going out of business. Earlier this week, St. Paul, Minnesota-based outdoor enthusiast chain announced it will be closing all remaining locations after filing for bankruptcy, there is a catch however. Gander Mountain and competitor Overton's were purchased by Camping World Holdings in May. This means that all the Gander Mountain stores are liquidating there inventory to make room for Camping World's merchandise. Not all the locations will actually close, unless the leases can be renewed by the changing in ownership. Camping World in based in Lincolnshire, Illinois and specializes in RV and recreational equipment. This seems to be more like a merger as Camping world will not close all the Gander Mountain stores, leaving select stores open in order to broaden its dealer network of RV sales.
