I have a lot of memories of that store in that it had a video department where you could buy movies and games ad well as rent. I actually still vividly remember the layout of the store and where a lot of the items were. You'd walk in through the double doors past the pop machines and if you walked to the right and all the way to the end you'd reach the video rental in the corner. Then directly to the left was the pharmacy and photo department. I remember there being an aisle right in the middle of the store that carried book and magazines on one side with toys on the other. Phar-Mor was where I first discovered Fresca in the vending machines and my sister and I always asked my parents for change so we could get one.radio1250https://www.blogger.com/profile/14602953024279919498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8733023008820151547.post-6626264833403028252019-04-29T19:26:01.272-07:002019-04-29T19:26:01.272-07:00For perspective on Shapira not being prosecuted as...For perspective on Shapira not being prosecuted as either 1) a culpable accessory-after-the-fact (for destroying his own attorney's memo about Monus misconduct), or 2) as a prison-worthy perpetrator (for taking $1/3+ Billion [in today's dollars] of Corporate Partners investment after destroying the memo) ... They always had what I needed their pet aisle was awesome, had a hamster and they had a fantastic selection of small animal products. Even groceries were cheaper with them. It's a shame that the economy in 2002 completely folded the company up If you can find old articles of that chain with Joliet, IL listed and Cub Foods and even Dominick's ads I will be so happy to see them.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01852241002421628458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8733023008820151547.post-35615836111306199732017-06-23T18:25:10.949-07:002017-06-23T18:25:10.949-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Bloggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07287821785570247118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8733023008820151547.post-3969127031478953292016-01-16T14:03:14.540-08:002016-01-16T14:03:14.540-08:00Very true and also my reaction as well when I foun...Very true and also my reaction as well when I found the Dateline videos back a few years ago, long after they closed, and heard what "actually" was happening.Trip To The Mallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11353578745151225482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8733023008820151547.post-10404630821175672922016-01-16T13:52:48.913-08:002016-01-16T13:52:48.913-08:00I remember going to Phar-Mor as a kid since you co...I remember going to Phar-Mor as a kid since you could rent videos from the location that was near Lafayette Square Mall. For us, Phar-Mor was a better option than renting from Blockbuster as it was cheaper. There were also plenty of odds-n-ends merch there that we would always pick up and enjoy. When the place closed we were rather upset by it since it had served us well. Only decades later did I find out about this mess and the look on my mom's face was PRICELESS. We used to LOVE it so to find out THIS was the reason behind its closing? Sad but also just a little creepy in how something that seemed so, well, WHOLESOME could have something like this happening behind closed doors.

AH WELL.
