Evergreen Park Plaza Redevelopment Update: 9/2016

The Plaza along Western Avenue in Evergreen Park, Illinois has seen quite a few changes in recent years. From the time in March 2013, I explored mall mall on a cold, rainy Sunday. In May 2013, the mall closed permanently except Carson Pirie Scott, Planet Fitness and Applebee's.

I returned to the Plaza in July 2013 to see how the mall looked, the Carson store was very hot, and smelled of mildew.

I gave the mall a brake from then on, returning in late 2015 after hearing that the shopping center has finally met the wrecking ball, and it did, as most of the former Plaza was gone.

Fast forward nearly a year later, as a newly built Carson's has opened in September 2016 behind the old Carson Pirie Scott, which will soon be demolished in the coming weeks.

Here is the old Carson's store.

New development's, cannot wait to see what they will become.

The original The Fair/ Montgomery Ward massive anchor store is no more.

Above/below: Quite a difference from September 2016 and July 2013. Very glad I take all these pictures for comparison purposes like this.

This is where is ends. I remember walking up there the last time.
